Cuboree is a camp for all Queensland Cub Scouts aged 9 and 10. It is held for six (6) days and five (5) nights during school holidays, every 2 years. The following Cuboree’s in Queensland have been themed:
- Cuboree 2010 – Stanthrope QLD – Theme: ‘Web of Life
- Cuboree 2012 – Rockhampton QLD – Theme: ‘Magical Mystery Tour’
- Cuboree 2014 – Maryborough QLD – Theme: ‘Time of Legends’
- Cuboree 2016 – Maryborough QLD – Theme: ‘Rumble in the Jungle’
- Cuboree 2018 – Maryborough QLD – Theme: ‘Going Troppo’
Activities and challenges relate to the theme and be based on some of the Silver and Gold Boomerang Challenges.
This is a great opportunity for the Cub Scouts to attend such a fantastic event held in their own State. As with any large activity or event there are guidelines and this Camp is designed for the older Cub Scouts to assist them on their Scouting journey.
Cuboree has a payment plan in three instalments to assist with extra costs associated with such a large event.
There are four full days of activities (including some off‐site activities) utilising the Cub Scout Award Scheme and many chances for fun and friendship for both Youth Members and Leaders.
Cub Scout Leaders will be required to support the Youth Members attending so we do need Leaders from other Sections, as well as some older Scouts, Venturer Scouts and Rovers to assist with activity bases, transport, catering, security, welfare and the myriad of tasks involved in such a big event.
The Cuboree Executive Committee are dedicated volunteers that often are in full-time work and hold other Scouting roles so the best way to gather information is to regularly visit this website or contact the team via firstname.lastname@example.org
Thanks for your support from the many Cub Scouts of Queensland.
Cuboree Catch Cries
Each Cuboree has ended up with a catch cry that can be heard by Cub Scouts as they continue their journey through Scouting. Here are the list of catch cries from each Cuboree to date:
- Cuboree 2010: ‘Rain, this is not Cuboree Rain!’
Came about due to the constant heavy rain we experienced for three days. Most remember the weather and the rain seems to have stuck with Cuboree since!
- Cuboree 2012: ‘No more sausages!
This call came from the many sausages we had at camp. Many parents were heard relating stories of youth member begging Mum not to have sausages for awhile.
- Cuboree 2014: ‘We were blown away by Cuboree!’
Came out of the contant high winds and the fact they had an awesome time. Plus the food was just to die for too – no sausages on this camp!
- Cuboree 2016: ‘????’
We will let you know what comes out from this Camp – but it will be like all other Cuborees an unique experience.
