Update 21st March 2021

Dear Cuboree Supporters, Leaders, and Parents

Cuboree generally takes about 2 year to plan, do and review. Cuboree 2021, in its current, post covid format will have about 11 months. During that time, the Cuboree Executive Committee and its teams, have needed to find a new location, rebudget, re plan everything all while paying close attention to the everchanging requirements of Covid-19.

We are working very hard to analyse and minimise the risks to all participants, our event, and Scouts Queensland. We are rewriting our Withdrawal / Refund Policy. This will be released later this week. While working with our risk management solutions we have identified key dates or events related to risk. The first is our application closing date. May 8th.

Cuboree 2021 is developing a Covid policy. It is being updated all the time, based on the changing circumstances and legislations relating to Covid in Queensland and Australia.

We are listening you your concerns, we are aware of them and those concerns are being addressed. Changes to our planning are slowing down as we, as a nation, an organisation, and an event, begin to establish the “New Covid Norm”.

Cuboree needs the support and confidence of our leaders, supporters, and parents. The Cuboree Team is working hard to provide an amazing event for your Cub Scouts, and it will be, but only if Cuboree is supported by you.

Yours in Scouting
Olivia Frost
Acting Chief Director
6th Queensland Cuboree
Oh behalf of the Cuboree Executive and Team.

Update 4 April 2020: Cuboree 2020 POSTPONED until September 2021

The current COVID-19 pandemic that has caused such sweeping changes to the way events are being run has meant that many people are facing an uncertain future. The timing for Cuboree 2020 put’s it at quite a risky time for restrictions to be lifted and for people to be ready to return to such events.
As a result the Cuboree Executive Committee is announcing the Cuboree 2020 is not going to be able to go ahead in the September 2020 school holidays. Instead, we are going to offer:

Cuboree 2020 to be postponed until Cuboree 2021 in the September school holidays of 2021
A special, one off, Scuboree sub camp for younger scouts who would have been able to attend Cuboree 2020, but will be too old for 2021. This will be lead by scout leaders and will aim to give them a more age appropriate event, whilst still participating in the rest of the event

Online Cuboree 2020 “Around the World in 18 months” will be a FREE, open to ALL cub scouts and leaders, interactive set of online adventures to keep families engaged in Cuboree right up until the event.

The Cuboree Application system will continue to remain open and you can still apply or withdraw your application at any time. Refunds are still available if you aren’t able to join us in 2021, but we encourage you to consider being a part of our event as the world changes around us.
